I look to the west where the sun is fierce as it begins to fade. The light is bright, quite brilliant.
Our garden dances as the shadows begin to dapple.
Wandering with Foinn, I see my sunflowers. Standing tall, smiling at me from among the ebbs of the summer garden.
There bright yellow heads bounce the light, and they sway in you breeze.
I grew these sunflowers. From seed. The packet stamped with out of date after 2009. Four years later I planted the seeds, on a blustery spring day. Catching the best before date just as I tossed away the packet.
These seeds which could have been discarded as out of date, grew into beautiful flowers.
How often do we discard a person, thing or idea as out of date? Without a glance to the thought it may grow and become beautiful.
As I watched these sunflowers grow, I was filled with a sense of achievement they had grown - this being my first attempt along with some sweetpea to grow anything from seed.
Sometimes we need to take a chance on an out of date thought or idea and nourish it to growth as blossom. But at all times we need to give time to older people, who's lives will never be out of date.
That's it for now ...
